ARTWORK FOR A PERIOD HOME

For some people artwork is just a pretty picture to hang on a wall. For me, an artwork needs to make you feel something, engage you and draw you in. Transporting you to another time or place and provoking feelings you otherwise may not have felt.  Artwork is a living, breathing emotion!

When choosing an artwork for a client I am always mindful of these things. Art is extremely personal, meaning each person will have a unique take on how they view a piece of art.

Albert Charles Lebourg

Above is an artwork I have chosen for a newly renovated Victorian home. The client wanted to keep the old world charm of the house and bring in some modern takes on old classics to acknowledge the past whilst still being current.

Being the focal point of the room the artwork needed to be a statement piece without overpowering the room. This artwork was painted by the French painter Albert Charles Lebourg and will be a great investment piece for the client.

Framing your artwork is another important element to consider. To enhance the artwork and tie in with the period home, I have chosen a broken gold frame. It complements the colors in the painting and will really complete their room.

The color palette and style of your home will also influence the piece you choose. In some instances the piece of art may determine the entire look of a house and become the inspiration for an entire style!
