Choosing Artwork for a contemporary home can
be a little daunting. I have found the most valuable thing to consider when
purchasing contemporary art and art in general for that matter is to look at
the artwork critically and ask yourself, in 10, 20, 30 years time will I still
want this on my wall?
Abstract Woman by Josh Bryan |
The painting above is one I have chosen for a
client recently. I had given two options. The one pictured above as well as the
abstract painting below. The abstract of the face was my preferred painting and the client agreed.

The client wanted the painting to be an
investment piece that blended in with their colour scheme and furniture. This artwork I feel provokes more of an
emotional connection, which is why I chose it over the complete abstract,
although both choices could have worked.

When choosing a frame for this painting, I
was mindful that I did not want to over-power the artwork with a heavy frame.
Instead choosing a more delicate frame that faded into the background and
subtly defined the work.
